Robertson Coral Reef Research
and Conservation Program

The Coral Reef Health and Ecology Lab led by Dr. Joshua Voss is part of the Robertson Coral Reef Research and Conservation Program at Florida Atlantic University's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. Our research integrates exploration and experimental approaches with advanced molecular techniques to better understand and protect coral ecosystems.  Our primary goals are to:
  1. Identify and characterize coral reef habitats  and resources
  2. Explore biodiversity, symbioses, and ecological processes in corals
  3. Track and predict the impacts of coral stressors and management actions on reef ecosystems
  4. Evaluate evidence of horizontal and vertical connectivity among coral reef ecosystems
  5. Develop and test techniques to enhance coral  resilience and recovery
  6. Train researchers and students in both field and molecular techniques for coral reef ecology
  7. Provide data, information, and expertise to improve management strategies for marine ecosystems
